The Christmas season would hardly be complete without a performance of “The Nutcracker.”
The Southeast Alabama Dance Company has performed the holiday ballet for 39 years, and artistic director Ashlie Wells tries to create a fresh look for the production each year with new costumes, new sets and new choreography.
“There are so many dance steps – the vocabulary and the creativity is really endless,” Wells said. “You put a lot of time and effort and work into it.”
The Southeast Alabama Dance Company will perform “The Nutcracker” at the Dothan Civic Center on Dec. 6-9. This year marks the company’s 39th year to perform the holiday ballet as well as the company’s 40th performance season. There was no performance of “The Nutcracker” in the company’s first season
